SMS Communications Terms

These terms apply to text-message (SMS) communications between AscendPrep and you. They supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Program description
We send two types of SMS messages:
- Transactional — exam reminders, score reports, drill streak nudges, account security alerts, billing notices. You are enrolled in transactional SMS by providing a verified phone number; you may opt out at any time as described below.
- Marketing — promotional offers, new feature announcements, study tips. You are only enrolled in marketing SMS if you affirmatively check the marketing opt-in box at signup or in Settings.
Message frequency
Up to 10 messages per month across both categories. Frequency varies based on your study plan and account activity.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier — AscendPrep does not charge for sending messages, but your carrier may charge you per message or as part of your plan.
HELP and STOP
- Reply HELP to any AscendPrep message for support contact information.
- Reply STOP to opt out of all AscendPrep SMS, including transactional. We will send one confirmation message and then cease all SMS to your number.
- Reply STOP MARKETING to opt out of marketing SMS only while keeping transactional alerts.
- You can also manage SMS preferences from Settings → Communications.
Carriers
Supported in Canada and the United States via Bell, Rogers, Telus, Freedom, Vidéotron, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and most regional carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Compliance
We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices, and Twilio's A2P 10DLC requirements. Consent is recorded with timestamp and source for audit purposes.
Privacy
Your phone number is used solely for the purposes described above and is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing. See our full Privacy Policy for details on subprocessors (including Twilio) and your rights.
